President’s Report on the 2018 Manitoba Power Smart Games

On Sunday March, 4th to Wednesday March, 7th, 2018 a total of 107 gymnasts, 18 coaches and 6 managers from throughout Manitoba boarded buses and headed out to the 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Games in Thompson. All gymnasts were accommodated in schools. Buses ran on a daily schedule transporting the gymnasts and coaches to the competitive venue while meals were served in another school located across from the competition.

Gymnastics was one of the first sports to begin the week of activities in Phase 1 of the Games. As in any first time event, there were some small glitches, but all was resolved and our two and a half days ran efficiently.

On behalf of the Manitoba Gymnastics Association, I would like to congratulate all gymnasts who qualified to participate in the Games and those who won medals. The results have been posted on the Manitoba Gymnastics website as well as on the Manitoba Games website.

I wish to thank the 2018 Power Smart Manitoba Games Host Society, the Thompson Tumblers, the Organizing Committee for the Gymnastics Competition, the officials and all the volunteers along with the city of Thompson who made these Games a success. Personally I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Karly Miller, our Executive Director of Manitoba Gymnastics and Alix Martens, Regional Stream Coordinator for all their hard work in making sure that the competition ran smoothly. As well a big thank you to the many volunteers, businesses and sponsors, who made this a very successful meet. Finally, I wish to acknowledge the tremendous support of the parents, their families and friends who came out to cheer our athletes on.
