President’s Report on Beausejour Elites Beginner to Pre-Provincial Invitational and MB Games East/South Qualifier

The Beausejour Elites Competition was held at the Edward Schreyer High School on January 27th and 28th, 2018. I attended all day Saturday when a total of 147 gymnasts competed. It was an opportunity for gymnasts to identify their standing amongst other provincial gymnasts. Excellent performances were on display and I had a chance to witness participation by 14 women’s clubs from our province.

In attendance on Saturday were:

GymKyds, Keystone Kips, Morden Magics, Panthers, Selkirk Selects, Silhouettes, Southport, Springers, St. Andrew’s, Steinbach Flippers, Teulon, Winnipeg Gymnastics Centre, and the host club, Beausejour Elites.

It was my 3rd time attending a terrific competition, where parents, grandparents, siblings and friends came out and showed their support. Each session ended with gymnasts receiving a meal being served up by the volunteers. The athletes waited anxiously as individual scores were tabulated, posted and awards were handed out.

Lesley Paterson, her coaching staff and volunteers ran the Saturday meet. I was kept busy trying to capture the perfect photo as the sessions flowed one into the other.

Finally, I would like to thank the Elites Gym Club for the invitation and President Theresa Spapens for a superb day. Thank you to all coaches, judges, gymnasts, volunteers, and parents for their participation.
