The Canadian National Championships were held in Ottawa, Ontario, from May 21st to May 27th. Gymnastics Canada along with the Ontario Gymnastics Federation and two local clubs, Ottawa Gym Centre and Tumblers Gym Centre hosted the event. The Carleton University Recreational Field House Complex was used to facilitate the competitions. Live streaming was available for those parents and other interested spectators who weren’t able to attend. Spectator seating was at capacity for many of the final events as the University Recreational Complex had to bring in bleachers to facilitate its huge number of spectators.
Athlete accommodations were in residence, a 10 to 15 minute walk away from the venue. Every morning our gymnasts got up early, had their breakfast at the Commons Residence restaurant and made their way for the day’s proceedings.
In total, 20 Manitoba gymnasts participated. Team Manitoba came home with 3 Bronze medals. All scores are posted on the GCG website.
Congratulations to all the gymnasts and coaches for their successes at Canadians. As Chef de Mission/Manager, I was proud of the professionalism in which our delegation aspired to throughout the week’s competitions.
