On December 2nd, the Steinbach Flippers Gym Club hosted Day 2 of the Canada Winter Games trials at Clear Springs Middle School. I attended the T and T trials where 2 clubs, Flippers (Steinbach) and Panthers Gym Club (Winnipeg) were in attendance.
Coaches Bonita Martens and Amanda Pierson from Steinbach and Michelle Bonner from Panthers Club, accompanied by a few parent volunteers and other coaching staff members, were present to oversee the T and T trials.
Prior to the trials each gymnast had an opportunity to warm up on the trampoline while coaches watched their routines. The viewing gallery, being at the gym level, provided spectators with an excellent view. The parents with family members, friends and grandparents were impressed by the gymnasts’ performance. That was most evident by the hearty applause received after each competitor’s routine.
