On Friday April 6th to Sunday April 8th, Panthers Gym Club hosted the MB Open/Crocus Invitational Competitions. I attended all day Saturday and Sunday. The following clubs were in attendance: Brandon Eagles, Crescentwood, GymKyds, Springers, Steinbach, Winnipeg Gym Center and the host club, Panthers. The Manitoba Open trials were held to pick the teams that will be heading to Westerns in Spruce Grove, Alberta and finally to Canadians in Waterloo, Ontario.
The weekend competition had 6 sessions, from JO 6 to JO 10 and Aspire 1 and 2. Included was one session of Tumbling and Trampoline where a total of 10 gymnasts participated from Panthers and Steinbach Flippers.
I stayed for all 5 sessions taking photos and was given the honour of handing out awards. I wish to thank everyone who helped me hand out awards. All photos are forwarded to the clubs which gymnasts belong to.
As in past competitions, the Panthers viewing gallery, both at the gym level and on the second floor, provided spectators with an excellent view. Speaking with both Robert Persechino and Helene Desmarais, I was told the club was pleased with the 3 days of competition. Thanks to their experienced staff and volunteers, the meet was a success.
I appreciated my time at the competition and now look forward to Swan River. I thank Robert, Helene and their staff for a great three days of competition.
