Junior & Youth Women’s Artistic Gymnastics National Team Members Announced
OTTAWA, ON (July 11th, 2016)– Gymnastics Canada is pleased to announce the athletes who have been named to the 2016-2017 junior and youth women’s artistic gymnastics national team. Athletes from these teams will be selected to represent Canada in competitions in Europe and South America this fall, including the Junior Pan American Championships in September. The athletes will also come together for training camps at various times during the year. Espoir status has been provided to one athlete on each team, indicating they are currently on a watch list and could be added to the National Team and be asked to represent Canada at an international event.
“We have a great deal of talent coming up through the gymnastics ranks in Canada in both our athletes and their coaches,” said Karl Balisch, Program Director for artistic gymnastics at Gymnastics Canada. “Many of these gymnasts have been inspired by our incredible athletes set to represent Canada at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer which will no doubt motivate them in their own pursuit of competing internationally.”
