Coaches Programs

The Manitoba Gymnastics Association has guidelines that must be followed with regards to being a registered coach with the MGA, view our Policies and Procedures for more information.

Coaches can apply for 50% reimbursement of expenses (lunch/course registration/mileage outside WPG only) by filling out the Coach Assistance Grant Application.

Being “Certified” means that you have demonstrated competency and have met professional guidelines within the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The Gymnastics NCCP certification pathway can be found here.

To become certified coaches must take the applicable in-person/online theory and technical training then complete one of the following evaluation guides:

The MGA Evaluation fee is $80 + GST for Gymnastics Foundations and $150 + GST for any Competition level courses for members. Additional fees apply for non-members. Completed packets can be sent to Karly Miller and payment can be made here.

On July 1, 2024, all course materials in the Gymnastics Canada Learning Management System are no longer available. If you did not previously download the applicable materials related to your NCCP prior to the transition date you will not longer be able to access it. Lifelong learning is the ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge and is one of the underlying philosophies of the NCCP.

In June 2021, coaches with Levels-NCCP qualifications in artistic gymnastics underwent a transfer of their qualifications from the Levels NCCP to our new NCCP programming which places a renewed focus on lifelong learning.

Coaches with trampoline Levels-NCCP qualifications will transfer at a later date.

In order for NCCP coaches to maintain their certified status, they will be required to obtain Professional Development (PD) points. PD points can be earned through a multitude of activities that coaches already participate in, including (but not limited to): national and provincial sport organization conferences and workshops, eLearning modules, NCCP workshops, coach mentorship programs, judging, facilitating courses, working on a committee, and active coaching. The following chart shows examples of how PD Points can be obtained. For information on how to Self Roster Active Coaching and Other PD Activities use these instructions.

Gymnastics Foundations coaches must collect 10 points over a 5 year period. Competition 1 coaches must collect 20 points over a 5 year period. The number of PD Points a coach has collected can be found in the Locker under a coaches’ NCCP number.
